HELENA 鈥?The U.S. Bureau of Land Management says it will reconsider more than 100 oil and gas leases in eastern Montana and western North Dakota, as stanley cup part of a settlement agreement with environmental groups.Earthjustice and the Western Environmen stanley cup tal Law Center filed suit in federal court last year, on behalf of WildEarth Guardians, Montana Environmental Information Center, the Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club and Waterkeeper Alliance. The groups challenged five lease sales conducted in stanley cup 2019 and 2020, arguing the BLMs environmental analysis didnt adequately consider the potential impacts.This week, the two sides filed their settlement agreement with the U.S. District Court for Montana. In it, the BLM said it would do additional analysis, then make its new decision on the leases. In addition, the agency agreed not to approve any more drilling applications on the affected lands until that new decision is made.The lease sales, conducted in the last two years of the Trump administration, cover more than 58,000 acres of public lands. HELENA 鈥?Just last week the Great Northern Carousel announced they would reopen, but only to serve ice cream.Shortly after, Governor Bullock announced phase two of reopening the state would begin on June 1st.On Wednesday General Manager Keith Brugman announced the carousel would be reopening on Thursday, June 4th.The Out to Lunch summer concert series is also kicking off on June 4, at 11:30 a.m. There will be food vendors, live music, and of course, social distancing.But things will look a little different the next time you take your child for a ride on the Helena staple.Brugman says, We have to sanitize the Great Northern Carousel each time, we have to have social distancing in between each group a af1 nd each patron, depending on how they re coming in. It s going to take time in order to bring everybody in, adidas originals get a ride for them, get them off, sanitize the machine, and get another set of riders in, so we do ask for a lot of patience.
