NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The North Smithfield Town Council has voted to withdraw a resolution that requested town departments not to purchase Nike products, reports CBS Providence, Rhode Island affiliate WRPI-TV. The resolution was introduced by Council President John Beauregard last week in response to the clothing maker s controversial new ad campaign featuring former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.In a swift meeting Monday adidas og night, Beauregard apologized for the attention the resolution brought to the town.
