We ve got s couple of events worth checking out because they support worthy charities!The first event is all day, benefits the Maryland SPCA and involves burritos! Chipotle is donating 50% of its proceeds on Thursday to the animal shelter. Just go to one of the more than 60 Chipotle restaurants in the state, tell your cashier you re supporting the Maryland SPCA, and part of your check will be donated!You can also show them the flyer we attached to this blog post and they ll make the donation too. Then you can eat your burrito knowing you helped the thousands of dogs and cats that come through the shelter each year. TIMONIUM, Md. 鈥?The Empty Bowls fundraiser to benefit hunger initiatives at St. Vincent de Paul is returning to an in-person event this year.Attendees can sample unlimited soups and bowl friendly dishes from more than a dozen restaurants. There will be live entertainment, activities f stanley cup or kids and a silent auction.More than 2,000 hand-decorated bowls will be on display and each guest can take one home.Proceeds from Empty Bowls will go toward St. Vincent s Beans Breads program, which feeds hundreds of people in need everyday. The event also benefits their Good Harvest Community Kitchen, which provides job training in the food service in stanley bottles dustry for people facing employment barriers.Empty Bowls is on Saturday April 23 at the Fairgrounds in Timonium from 12-3 p.m. Tickets for open seating are $35. Voters in Florida have passed an amendment to the state constitu adidas samba tion that raises the minimum wage in the state to $15 an hour.According to the Associated Press, voters overwhelmingly supported Amendment 2, which passed with 61% support.Currently, the minimum wage in the state is $8.56 an hour.The AP reports that supporters of the amendment believed raising the minimum wage will rai air max 1 se the quality of life for millions of residents and argued that living on an $8.56 minimum wage was not possible given the state s rising cost of living.Opponents of the amendment say raising the minimum wage will stifle economic recovery in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and have a negative impact on the state s tourism industry.Though a $15 minimum wage was a central part of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden s campaign, Florida went for President Donald Trump.
