Steve Bullock has chosen adidas samba a Helena attorney to serve as the newest judge for Montanas 1st Judicial District, covering Lewis and Clark and Broadwater Counties.Bullock announced Thursday that he had appointed Chris Abbott to fill an open judges position, replacing Judge James Reynolds, who retired last month.Abbott currently works as an assistant attorney general with the Montana Department of Justices Agency Legal Services Bureau. Before that, he spent about 10 years as an assistant public defender with the Office of the State Public Defender. He is a graduate of Capital High nike dunk School and has a law degree from the University of Washington.The state Judicial Nomination Commission chose Abbott as one of three finalists to fill Reynolds seat. The other two nominees were Mary Cochenour and Ole Olson.Abbott will have to be confirmed by the Montana Senate during next years legislative session. TUCSON, Arizona 鈥擜 Tucson, Arizona man who had been in an altercation fired a gun at a police officers, hitting one of the officer s belt. The belt prevented a bullet from entering his body.That man, 51-year-old Roy King, was in a bar with his wife and family when an argument started. King s stepson, who wasat the bar, called 9-1-1.During the argument in the bar,King allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened two people. King then headed to his ho stanley italia me.Tucson police officers wentto the home in response to the 9-1-1call and found King s vehicle in the driveway. When the officers approached the car, King started to yell at them from the backyard. He still had the handgun.During the confrontation between King and two officers, gunfire was exchanged.
