DETROIT AP 鈥?Nearly all of Detroit s public schools were closed for a second consecutive day Tuesday as hundreds of teachers called out sick over concerns that many may not get paid if the financially struggling district runs out of money.As of 7:15 a.m., 94 of the district s 97 schools were shut down 鈥?the same number that was forced to cancel classes Monday when more than 1,500 teachers did not show up for work.It was not immediately known how many of Detroit Public School s approximately 46,000 students we stanley usa re affected by the continuing sick-out, but the district said more than 45,000 missed class Monday.Teachers were expected to continue picketing outside district administrative offices where several hundred protested on Monday. A union membership meeting was scheduled Tuesday afternoon at a Detroit church. Let us be clear. TOKYO AP 鈥?Japan Parliament elected Yoshihide Suga as prime minister Wednesday, replacing long-serving leader Shinzo Abe with his right-hand man.Keeping his usual straight face, Suga bowed deeply se yeezy veral times when the results were announced as his fellow ruling party lawmakers applauded in Parliament lower house, the more powerful of the two chambers where he has a seat. He was also confirmed in the upper house.Suga, who was chief Cabinet secretary and the top government spokesman under Abe, selected a Cabinet that is a mix of fresh faces and current or former ministers. They hold their first meeting later Wednesday.Suga has stressed his background as a farmers son and a self-made politician in promising to serve the interests of ordinary people and rural communities. He has said he will pursue Abes unfinished policies and that his priorities will be fighting the coronavirus and turning around an economy battered by the pandemic.Abe said before the change was official that as a lawmaker, he will support Sugas government and he thanked the people for their understanding and their strong support for Suga.
